Fishing for Salmon in Oregon Rivers

Oregon is a world-renowned salmon fishing destination, with over 15,000 miles of salmon-bearing rivers and streams. The state’s salmon runs are among the strongest in the Pacific Northwest, and anglers from all over the world come to Oregon to experience the thrill of catching these magnificent fish.

Salmon Species We Fish For

There are five species of salmon that return to Oregon rivers: chinook, coho, chum, pink, and sockeye. Each species has its own unique life cycle and migration patterns, and anglers need to be familiar with these differences in order to be successful.

  • Chinook salmon, also known as king salmon, are the largest and most prized salmon species. They can weigh up to 40+ pounds and are known for their powerful fighting ability. Chinook salmon return to Oregon rivers from August to October and April to July

  • Coho salmon, also known as silver salmon, are smaller than chinook salmon, but they are still a popular target for anglers. Coho salmon return to Oregon rivers from October to November.

testimonials

“Great Trip with Dylan! My buddy and I each caught steelhead and we are terrible fisherman so Dylan gets all the credit. Donโ€™t believe the superstitions, bring as many bananas as you want. Dylan did a great job rigging up the rods and guiding us down the river. He worked hard and we appreciate it very much! Will definitely go again this year and every year thereafter.”

“Knowledge excellent. Lots of laughs while being focused on the job at hand. Looking forward to another trip.”

Jerry King

“Dylan is a fantastic guide! For someone who had never fly fished before, Dylan took a few minutes at the beginning of our day to teach me the basic fundamentals. That support helped me pull in five Cutthroat and Rainbows, along with one hooked Steelhead (the one that got away). Thank you Dylan!”
