Trout fishing has been amazing! I have been running fly fishing trips on the South Santiam and we are catching good number of fish every trip and plenty of large fish too. I have not seen this many large trout caught on the South Santiam ever! Spring chinook salmon fishing has been hit or miss, some trips have been productive, but we have had some skunk trips too. I jumped back and forth between the Mckenzie and the South Santiam chasing these salmon. The Mckenzie was slower fishing and less productive than previous years. The South Santiam produced decent fishing when the river levels cooperated. Spring Chinook fishing is basically over, and I will not be offering anymore trips for salmon until the August 1st Fall Chinook opener.
