Your Captain is Dylan Gorman. Dylan grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area and was introduced to fishing by his father and grandfathers at an early age. Every weekend was spent fishing on the ocean or nearby lakes for salmon, lingcod, halibut, tuna, trout and bass. This early introduction to fishing helped Dylan’s passion for the sport grow.

After moving to Corvallis to study Fisheries at Oregon State University, Dylan discovered the abundant fisheries of the Pacific Northwest. Salmon and steelhead in the coastal rivers, coho and lingcod in the ocean and cutthroat and redside trout in the valley were a true angler’s paradise! After a short learning curve, Dylan was consistently putting up large scores of fish on his personal trips and began taking college friends fishing to share the excitement and joy of catching fish and experiencing the outdoors – all while earning a Bachelor’s degree in Fisheries & Wildlife. This led to pursuing a job in Alaska working as a charter boat deckhand during the summers between college classes.

This job turned meetyourcaptaininto 5 summers of professional guiding in Alaska’s most remote lodges in the Bristol Bay Region. Spending 100+ days a summer guiding allowed Dylan to perfect his guiding skill and teaching abilities.

When not in Alaska, Dylan signed on with the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife. This allowed him to learn extensively about the local fisheries and timing of fish runs. Dylan was also hired by the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Association (NOAA) on the vessel, The Reuben Lasker, to perform scientific field work on sardine population, abundance, and distribution along the west coast.

After moving back to Oregon in the Fall of 2017 to attain a post-bachelorette in Salmon Management at OSU, Dylan followed his passion and skill-set as a fishing guide and local knowledge of fishing in the Willamette Valley and Coastal Range by working as a fishing guide. He now offers guided drift boat trips for salmon, steelhead, trout and bass in the Willamette Valley and Coastal Oregon.

Dylan’s skills at teaching the art of fly fishing to others became so renown that he was invited to teach fly fishing classes at Oregon State and at the local fly fishing shop.
